Website Redesign for a Working Artist and his Studio.
Client Need
Artist Paul Klein once had a functional website for his studio, but it had disappeared from the hosting site. The whole story is still a bit murky, though Paul needed a website rebuilt from scratch. He had a good amount of content — images, and text — to populate the new site and a great name for the studio.
Design Process
We worked together for about six months mostly meeting in person over coffee or chai and discussing philosophy, and aesthetics. Decisions were made on a new host, the goals of his online presence, the structure, and organization of the website, and a project schedule.
Style
Because Paul is inspired by the beauty of the land the colors used in the new website are earthy and subdued. I incorporated many of his photographs of nature to complete the setting.
He works intuitively to create one-of-a-kind sculptural lamps using combinations of wood, stone, handmade paper. each piece is given a unique title that embodies some aspect of the story behind the elements he has used.
