Promoting Wisconsin’s first woman lawyer.

Project Needs
1) An online biography documenting Lavinia Goodell’s life and remarkable career was created to celebrate her accomplishments. The client needed a brand style, color palette, page headers, and type specifications developed for the website. The launch of the website was timed to coincide with the centennial of the passage of the 19th Amendment of the Constitution, giving women the right to vote.

2) A walking tour guide of important sites in Lavinia’s hometown of Janesville, Wisconsin, was needed for online display, download, and printed brochure.

Design Solutions
Provided historical photographs became the visual focal points for both the website and the walking tour guide. A photograph of young Lavinia became the primary identifier used in both.

For the online biography, photos were curated for page headers and a jewel-tone color palette was used to create faux duotones. Social media platforms were created for Lavinia which needed banners and profile images.

Designing the Walking Tours guide primarily focused on page layout, typesetting, and flow of information. A historical map of Janesville was put into service on the cover, while maps for the two tours were designed and incorporated into the guide. All of the photos got some adjustments and retouching.
